I don't know what to say other than - where have these been all my life?! These are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and I'm never turning back. Now I'm not saying I won't make a traditional chocolate chip cookie again, because I totally will, but these deserve some spotlight and will forever hold a place in my heart! <3

Now let's get into it.

I first discovered that whole wheat flour was even an option when I stumbled upon a recipe from the OG Queen, Ms. Betty Crocker herself. Now, don't mistake the word "whole wheat" for a necessarily healthier option, because these babies are packed with sugar... but we balance it out with a lower-sugar chocolate chip option, so it all works out in the end, right? See below for how I make them:

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1 stick of butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour (King Arthur makes a great one)

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 cups of Lily's Baking (no sugar added) chocolate chips (or any other brand you like)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Combine wet ingredients in a bowl and whisk lightly. Add in the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Depending on consistency you may add another tbsp of butter to the mix. Using a cookie scoop, drop dough onto parchment lined cookie pan. Bake in the oven for for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. SO good!!

Let me know if you try them!
